These publications can help you to increase your knowledge about our village.

The first, "STORIA DI VILLAR FOCCHIARDO" ("History of Villar Focchiardo"), Luigi Martoia's manuscript.
After some patient and fascinating searches, this citizen describes the complex and varied village history: Villar Focchiardo and its lifestyle since the prehistory to 1978. History, traditions and customs that are also the bases of today's community.
Some author's drawings make this book more interesting.

"VILLAR FOCCHIARDO MILLE ANNI DI STORIA, CULTURA E TRADIZIONI" ("Villar Focchiardo: one thousand years of history, culture and traditions") written by several authors.
After 25 years, an update to give you new historical knowledge with toponyms and history of our many associations.

"GUIDA ALLA CERTOSA DI MONTE BENEDETTO E AL PARCO DELL'ORSIERA-ROCCIAVRE'", ("Guide to Montebenedetto's Charterhouse and to Orsiera-Rocciavré Park") published by the "Regional Administration".
This guide will take a tourist, a visitor or a hiker to set out for a well-filled day of art, history, nature and culture. This area is considered to be one of the most interesting Piemont's Mountains.

Also other two young citizens wrote some publications about ours traditions: "IL MARRONE E' SERVITO" ("Chestnut is served") by Luciana Carnino. The origin, the botanical description, the medicinal properties and also 100 easy chestnut's recipes.


"LA MONTAGNA DI GNEISS storie 'd picapera" ("Gneiss's Mountain, stories of Picapera") and "FEDELTA' MONTANARA Racconti di vita all'ombra della Valle di Susa" ("Storybook of Susa Valley") by Franco Versino.
A tribute for the stone cutters who were numerous in the past in the Susa Valley. The story explains why these men will never stop to surprise us with their intelligence. A trip in the past for the readers who will find in these pages an old fashioned smell and this very popular wisdom very common in the Piemont country.
His second book offers us a child's memories which topic is the old "Ai vej", which became a love symbol for the mountain, war stories, life. This is a part of the historical patrimony of the community.

"Sulle tracce del Medioevo DAI BARATONIA AGLI ARCOUR" by Giancarlo Chiarle. A history of Villar Focchiardo with some information about Baratonia's Family, an older village governor.

"CERTOSINI IN VAL DI SUSA: strutture conventuali ed economiche da Losa ad Avigliana XII – XVII secolo". A part of Michela Favro and Federica Turco's dissertation.
Some events about Carthusian Monks, when they lived in Montebenedetto and Banda's Carthusian house, in Villar Focchiardo's area.
